Thanks, David! I just got a copy of a fascinating book titled "Lyrical Liberators", all about antislavery poetry. I'll have more posts on the topic of poetry but want to mix it up first. There are so many interesting stories to be shared. Chris

Great article Chris! A couple of months ago I tried to establish a connection between her and the Flaggs and Goulds of Andover (Flagg and Gould Print Shop at Phillips Academy/Andover Theological Seminary) I couldn't make the connection...search for another day!

Thanks, Martha! An intriguing possibility...I didn't go deep into HFG's genealogy, but her father was originally from Topsfield, and the family lived in Lancaster, MA before moving to Newburyport.
